A demister, also known as a mist eliminator or wire mesh demister pad, is a passive separation device installed in the upper section of scrubbers, distillation columns, evaporators, and knock-out drums. It captures entrained liquid droplets from a gas or vapor stream before they exit the vessel, preventing product loss, downstream corrosion, and environmental non-compliance.

Our demister consists of multiple layers of knitted wire mesh laid between support grids. As droplet-laden gas passes through the mesh, inertial impaction and direct interception cause droplets to coalesce on the wire surfaces, grow larger, and drain downward by gravity. With proper mesh density and free volume selection, our standard pads achieve 99.9% removal efficiency for droplets 5 microns and larger, with outlet liquid carryover as low as 0.1–0.5 mg/Nm³.

We produce demisters in full compliance with BS 5502 (Petroleum and chemical industry standard) or customized per your vessel diameter (from 150mm to 8 meters). Mesh material options include: 304/316 stainless steel (general corrosion resistance), Monel (seawater / acidic brine), Teflon (PTFE for extreme chemical attack up to 200°C), polypropylene (PP for low-temp alkaline service), and FRP rods (for HF or strong acid mist). Thickness from 100mm to 300mm standard, with multi-layer designs (e.g., coarse + fine mesh combination) for high-mist-load applications. We also supply the complete support assembly (grids, hold-down bars, ring flanges) pre-drilled for field bolt-up.
